Have you ever heard of Invisalign? Invisalign is a fantastic new alternative to braces. Man, I wish these things were available when I was a kid. I had braces when I was in middle school. I am so, so sorry that I can’t find any pictures of that fantastic look to share with you! bahaha. No, I’m not sorry at all! It was the 80’s, and I was awkward and the braces did NOT help the situation! Enjoy this little picture of me at an 80’s party….to get an idea. 🙂
Oh man, and the tightening. OH Geez. I still remember the pain of getting my braces tightened. Just horrible.
Lucky teens these days. Now they have options like having straighter, healthier, better looking smiles without braces! The same results can be achieved with Invisalign and for roughly the same cost and with less office visits. It’s easy to see why these are a popular choice for teens. They are more comfortable than metal brackets and much safer for kids involved in sports. And since they can be removed and only have to be worn for 22 hours a day, kids can play musical instruments, eat, brush, floss as they would normally. You can even take them out for school pictures, avoiding all those unfortunate moments! Although, they are virtually invisible, so you don’t really need to!
I think the neatest part is that patients can watch their new smile evolve instead of waiting to see the final result after wearing their braces for years and years. Invisalign patients can start to see improvements and progress in as little as 90 days!! How cool is that? Another fabulous feature is that they use digital scanners to take 3D pictures of your teeth. No more impressions. I have VIVID memories of dry heaving and gagging in the orthodontists office on those giant plates of gooey, slightly minty clay! Nasty.
And the teen aligners have “compliance indicators” built right in! How smart is that? You see those little blue dots? They are designed to fade from blue to clear to gauge approximate wear time, so you can monitor your child’s wear time.
You can see why Invisalign is the clear alternative to braces! Do you know anyone who has used Invisalign?
