card wreath

December 20, 2010 by Erin 6 Comments

I never had a fun way to enjoy the Christmas cards that we get. Until now! I saw this fun post on my friend Melissa’s blog. She made the most clever Christmas card wreath out of an embroidery hoop, hot glue and mini clothes pins. I knew I needed to make one immediately! She saw it in the current issue of Martha. That woman is a genius. (Martha & Melissa) I don’t know how I missed that one. I really need to get a subscription to that magazine. hint. hint. anyone.

I popped into Hobby Lobby the first chance I got. And low and behold they were 40 percent off! Love that place. Melissa used a 20 inch hoop, but they were out of those so I used an 18 inch. I really like the way it looks on my door. It was so easy. I made it while the kids were eating cereal and watching me curiously. It took like 5 minutes. And it was cheap. I had the glue and clothes pins. The hoop was less than 3 dollars.

If you would like to make one….
Just glue mini clothes pins around a hoop. Glue every other pin on in the opposite direction. Tie a ribbon on and hang up. Done. I might like a 20 inch better since ours is getting really full now. But, it’s festive and simple. My kind of project.

I love how this wreath can be used each year for new cards received. The only thing I may change is perhaps cover the clothes pins with bows made of ribbon or accent them with something more festive. Great idea!

Thanks so much Anita. That is a great idea about changing the color of the clothes pins. Maybe even add some glitter! 🙂
