I hacked my Lack!!!
The kids got legos and dulpos for Christmas and I knew having a lego table would be nice. But, dern, they are spendy!
I already had the red Lack from IKEA.
For some reason it was only $5 dollars the day I went last summer. They were on sale, so I bought one. I knew I could use it someday! And only 5 bucks. Come on. 🙂 (Said like a true hoarder. I know. But, look it did come in handy!)
Then, I bought four 10 x 10 lego building plates.

Sometimes Toy’s R Us has buy one get one half off….but they are still cheaper on Amazon.
Then, just use some handy dandy Gorilla glue to put it all together.
The most important step is to use legos to hold the plates together at the seams.
If you push the plates together flush, then the legos won’t work with it. They need a little tiny space. The space is super easy to get if you just use legos to hold it together while it dries and cures.
Also be sure to put heavy books or pans on the top while it dries.

And here is the finished table. The kids love it.
Duplos fit on it too! Did you know that?
This is perfect since the bird has regular Legos, but the two year old bean still plays with Duplos.

If you don’t have legos yet, or are just getting into it, I highly recommend these sets. (Don’t be afraid of the pink one for the girls. There aren’t that many pink pieces. ) 🙂 I went to the lego store over Christmas and asked what they would recommend for first sets. They all agreed on these sets hands down. The pros to these boxes….They have clear instructions to make many things and they come with a some special extra pieces (like roof blocks.) They also come with a mini figure and the pink one come with a horse! Plus they come with another base plate and a handy box to put it all away.
