The Art of the Brick at the Cincinnati Museum Center

It’s no secret that we love some LEGO in this family.  LEGO sets are pretty much every gift my kids have wanted for Christmas and birthdays for years. So, when we had a chance to check out The Art of the Brick, of course we jumped on it.

If you have any LEGO lovers, or art lovers in the family, you can NOT miss The Art of the Brick at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

Art of the Brick is the World’s Largest Display of LEGO art. There are over 100 sculptures made exclusively with LEGO bricks.

The artist Nathan Sawaya, left his career as a lawyer to pursue his creativity and art. He is a fascinating and talented guy and I’m so glad we got to meet him!!

Nathan says, “It all starts with one brick.”  He even made a sculpture to represent that!

He likes to create a special sculpture to represent each city that hosts his work.  I think the flying LEGO pig is perfect for Cincy!

Walking through the exhibit feels like walking through an art gallery.  It’s just an art gallery made of LEGO!  It’s amazing.  You can easily recognize all the famous works of art.

It’s hard to choose a favorite piece but I really loved the stained glass window made of translucent LEGO bricks.  It casted a gorgeous pattern on the floor.

The 20 foot long T-Rex Dinosaur was awesome!  It is the largest sculpture he’s made with 80,020 bricks.  It took him an entire summer to build.

At the end of the exhibit was a cool area called Brickopolis!  Kids can have at it and make their own LEGO creations or watch a LEGO movie surrounded by LEGOS.  So fun!
