Summer’s almost over and school’s almost in. (I can’t believe how fast it went!) Our breakfast routine in the summer is a little RELAXED. During the school year I make all kinds of quick and healthy options. I make organic breakfast burritos and freeze them, I make homemade whole-wheat waffles and freeze them. I make whole-wheat, sausage pancake puffs. I make banana-cranberry muffins and granola from scratch. It’s all nice and frozen and ready to go when we need it.
Now, our summer breakfast routine is a little “different.” They kids wake up late and we have seem to have a million places to go. Swim lessons, art class, play dates, VBS, vacation, day trips, the pool. Breakfast usually slips my mind. I hate to take them through fast food and they function so much better on a nice meal from home in their bodies. Luckily, the kids can make their own toast! They love it when we have tasty Smuckers© Jams, Jellies and Preserves on hand. Pancakes and muffins are just about as easy to whip as toast when you have Martha White© Muffin Mix and Hungry Jack© Mix (waffles/pancakes) and syrup around. And of course, I need my coffee before we leave the house to go anywhere! Folgers© Coffee is a great option. You can get all these great quick breakfast options at Walmart. You just can’t beat the prices. And they are so much better for you than fast food. 🙂
Of course, I can’t wait to get back into the kitchen and do some healthy batch cooking for the school year. Granola, here we come. 😉 It’s almost time. I can’t believe how fast this summer seemed to go. It was a fun one.
