One of the greatest things about being a teacher is summer vacation. (oh yeah …..and molding the tender minds of America’s youth). I LOVE SUMMER!!
We just returned from a little trip down to my parent’s cabin in Red River Gorge. We had such a great time! Here are some of the highlights.
We picked wild blackberries. We ate wild blackberries!
We relaxed.
We enjoyed fires and s’mores. (see the cool ‘initial’ chairs that grandpa made the big kids from firewood.)
We had a dance party.
We went fishing and swimming in the lake everyday.
We swam with the fishes and fed them bread while they nibbled on our toes.
We threw rocks into the pond everyday.
We played in the driveway gravel for hours (apparently I can get rid of all the toys and just get a pile of rocks and a bucket)
We tried to fly a kite.
We sat on the porch and watched a thunderstorm storm.
We climbed the rock wall that grandpa built in the basement.
We took hillbilly baths.
We played with old toys that grandma saved from my own childhood. Good thinking grandma!
We went into town and enjoyed an ice cream cone…..with sprinkles!
We found an old playground.
We hunted for treasures. (pinecones, feathers and sticks)
We picked tiny, wild huckleberries. I can NOT wait to make some jam with all of our berries!
We enjoyed the sights of the red.
We took lots of walks and hikes.
We finished making cool invitations for a wedding shower we are throwing for my soon to be sister-in-law. (I feel good that I was at least slightly productive this week!)
We had pizza at the BEST pizza place EVER….Miguels….yum!
We did NOT get eaten by a bear!!
