Get in the spirit with these fun ideas.
1. Spooky Boo Bark – This recipe couldn’t be easier!
What you need:
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins
- Orange and Triple Chocolate Kit Kat® bars
- Hershey’s Candy Corn bars
- Mini Rolos ®
- Reese’s Nutrageous bars
- Eye balls
- Pretzels
- 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 a bag of white chocolate chips
- Parchment paper
What you do:
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Put a layer of pretzels on the paper.
- Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl, at 10-15 second intervals to prevent burning.
- Pour melted chocolate on the parchment, smoothing it out to a think flat layer.
- Melt white chocolate chips, the same way as above. Pour on top of chocolate and use a toothpick (or pretzel!) to swirl the white into the dark a little bit.
- Chop of a variety of Hershey’s candy and sprinkle onto the bark.
- Place eye balls around, two at a time.
- Let set until hard or overnight.
- Break bark up into pieces and serve!
- BOO!
2. Spider and Bat Lollipops – This is such a simple but classic craft. The kids LOVE making them, eating them and handing them out!
What you need:
- Jolly Rancher Caramel Apple Lollipops
- Googly Eyes
- Pipe Cleaners
- Black paper, scissors, glue
What you do:
- For the bats: Cut out bat wings from the black paper and glue onto the lollipops. Add eyes.
- For the spiders: Cut two pipe cleaners in half. Holding all four evenly, wrap them around the lollipop at the middle and bend at knees and feet. (4 legs on each side). Add eyes.
3. Hand Print Spider Decorations – My kids had such a blast making these and we save them and re-use them each year as a decoration. Their hands were SOOOO LITTLE!
What you need:
- Paint. (We used purple, but black would be great too!)
- Paper
- Little hands
- Googly Eyes (We ran out and I used paper and a sharpie!)
- String or fishing line for hanging.
What you do:
- Help your kids make a hand print. Wash that hand off and paint the other hand.
- Print the second hand so that the bottom of the palms are together. Let it dry, cut it out, put some eyes on and hang them up.
- I bent the fingers a little bit after I cut them out so that they look like legs.
- Tip: The thumbs are supposed to be more of the spider mouth parts and if you can get the handprints that way (with the thumb far away from the fingers) it helps it look like a spider.
4. Mummy and Candy-Coated Pretzels – These are always a hit at any party. Salty and Sweet. And the kids love helping make them. Adding eyes for Halloween is just fun!
What you need:
- Pretzel Rods
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins
- Orange and Triple Chocolate Kit Kat® bars
- Hershey’s Candy Corn bars
- Mini Rolos ®
- Reese’s Nutrageous bars
- 1/2 a bag of chocolate chips, any color
- Eye Balls
What you do:
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave at 10-15 second intervals. Stirring in between.
- Spoon chocolate over half of each pretzel rod.
- Sprinkle chopped candy over the melted chocolate. Let set, 4 hours, or overnight.
- For the Mummies: Using a spoon, drip the white chocolate over the pretzel in lines, until you get the coverage you are looking for.
- Add candy eyes and let set.
5. Graveyard Cupcakes – This is the most simple recipe you will see. Ever. But the result is fun and brings a party from normal to PARANORMAL! Just by opening a package!
What you need:
- Store bought cupcakes. (Of course, you can make your own, but I am NOT a baker!)
- Hershey’s Candy Corn and Milk Chocolate bars for the headstones
What you do:
- Wait for it.
- Open the headstone Hershey bars. Stick one in each cupcake.
