Hello crafty readers! How are you on this fall day? I hope well! It’s starting to cool down in my neck of the woods so I’m a little sad, but I’m getting excited about Halloween coming up! I thought it would be fun to share a Halloween craft decoration I made to display in my home. I got the idea from a pin I pinned on pinterest a few weeks ago and I love how mine turned out. It’s really simple and only took about 15 minutes from start to finish! I always love crafts I can finish in one sitting because with 3 boys, I don’t always get to finish my projects in one day, let alone in only 15 minutes!
Ok, what you’ll need to complete this project is a chalkboard sign, (or you can use a piece of wood or canvas or whatever else you have on hand. I bought my chalkboard sign at walmart for about $3.) white vinyl, mod podge, and chalk (this is optional. I didn’t actually use it on mine.)
This is my finished decoration I have hanging in my living room. I bought the shape from the Silhouette Online Store here. They have a bunch of different files like this one, but it was my favorite so I bought it. I wanted my vinyl to look like chalk so that’s why I used white. If you want your chalkboard to look more chalky, is that even a word? haha, go ahead and run your piece of chalk over the whole board. I honestly didn’t think about this before, but I think I like it looking crisp and clean anyway.
Cut out your file on your machine, whether you have a Silhouette or Cricut or whatever, and then put the shape onto the chalkboard with transfer tape. Mod podge over your vinyl to make sure it stays on forever and you’re done!
This is my Halloween decorated area in my living room. My 4 year old LOVES the little pumpkins. I’m surprised they’re still standing where I left them!
