What can you do in 4 weeks?

June 10, 2014 by heather Leave a Comment

Happy start of summer everyone! It’s me Heather, The Healthy Hen, and our summer calendar is just hopping! Between VBS, camp, vacations, library programs the summer is just going to wiz by. It’s going to be fun, though! 🙂

Ok, let’s get to it…we are 4 weeks (or so) into our #fitin8weeks fitness challenge! How are you doing? What exercises have you added to your routine? What about diet? Are you eating healthy and staying away from nasty processed foods?

If you answered with a shoulder shrug and are feeling a little blue…no worries…you can still jump on board! You can make huge changes to your healthy in a few short weeks, and we have 4 left!!

First things first…

1) Eat it.   You need to eat food, real food, to fuel your body. Your body needs fuel, good fuel, to work at it’s optimal calorie burning level. To find out what foods you should eat, consult your doctor or make an appointment with a nutritionist. You can also find tons of helpful tips on the ‘ole interweb, but be careful and do your research! I like to start my morning with a whole wheat flax seed waffle topped with fruit! (recipe here)

2) Do it!   You have to do something. Running after the kids, although exhausting, isn’t enough. Push your body. Walk/run longer and faster than you think you can. Lift heavier than you think you can. You will be surprised at how strong you are. You can always pop in a DVD (I love this one) and get your heart pumping right in your own home! Or take a family hike or bike ride! Of course…before you start an exercise program make sure your doctor gives you the green light!

3) Log it!   A lot of people find it helpful to log not only their diet, but their activity too. That way you can track your progress and see just how far you’ve come!

You can follow my progress on instagram, facebook or twitter…follow the hashtag #fitin8weeks

I can tell I’m stronger now than before I started. Most is due to the encouragement and help I get from attending classes at Snap Fitness in Hebron!  If you live in NKY, get to a metabolic bootcamp! The first class is FREE!

Heather blogs at The Healthy Hen, where she writes about being healthy in what we eat, what we do and how we live.  She’s Mama Hen to 3 little chicks and wife to her Mr.  She’s passionate about being healthy and has a degree in Exercise Science.  She believes being healthy is way, WAY, more than just eating salads and being gym rats.  It’s about having fun and spending time with those you love, too.  Going to the circus with your family can be just as healthy and good for you as running a 5k.  Celebrating birthdays and watching your kids laugh is just as healthy for your soul as strength training is for your bones.  Be healthy!
