Hey! It’s me again, Heather..from The Healthy Hen! Hope you enjoyed the videos from last month! hehe…they were pretty fun to make! I just liked playing with my new toy!
Spring is almost here…I mean…we’re so close! No more crackling of static cling, not more “winteritis” (the coughing and clogged sinus guck), no more electric shocks every time I open my car (or any door). I’m sure I’m not the only one who is excited for the change in seasons!
I know it’s hard to think about wearing sundresses and bathing suits when we are layered in sweats and sweatshirts..but Spring will be here soon enough and the layers will start to peel away. If you haven’t started a healthy routine of eating right and exercise, try starting today!
Here is a great 20 min. workout, that you can do anywhere, and it’s sure to get your heart pumping, calories burning and make you feel great!
Jog in place– Pretty self explanatory…haha…just jog..in place!
High Knees – still jogging, but lift your knees higher than your hips/waist.
Jumping Jacks– Legs hop out…arms go up.
Ski Jumps – Stand with your knees together. Hop to the side, land soft with your knees bent, then hop back to the other side.
Mnt. Climbers – Stand tall, Lift your right arm and left knee, switch lifting your left arm and right knee..do it as quick as you can!
Butt Kicks – Kinda like jogging, but lift your foot behind you like you are trying to kick your own butt 🙂
Switch Lunges – Do a lunge with your right foot in front, then switch and do a lunge with your left leg in front. repeat for one min.
Pulsing Squats – Get into a squat position and get real low, then just pulse that position. Don’t stand all the way up. Stay low.
Moving Push-ups – Do a push-up, then walk with your arms and legs over one “step” and do another push-up. repeat until you run out of room then “walk”/with your arms back. Keep going for one min!
Ski Abs – Get into a plank position. Hop your feet up to the side, near your hands, as far up and to the side as you can. Then hop them back to the starting plank position, then hop to the other side.
Repeat all the above exercises! When you are completely finished, take a cool down jog, stretch those muscle and be sure to drink water!
*Remember…I am not a doctor…consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program
Heather blogs at The Healthy Hen, where she writes about being healthy in what we eat, what we do and how we live. She’s Mama Hen to 3 little chicks and wife to the Big Rooster. She’s passionate about being healthy and has a degree in Exercise Science. She believes being healthy is way, WAY, more than just eating salads and being gym rats. It’s about having fun and spending time with those you love, too. Going to the circus with your family can be just as healthy and good for you as running a 5k. Celebrating birthdays and watching your kids laugh is just as healthy for your soul as strength training is for your bones. Be healthy!
