Help Shape the Future of my NKY

January 17, 2014 by Erin 2 Comments

If January 2014 is any indication of what this year is going to be like, it’s shaping up to be an exciting one over here at ‘A Bird And A Bean!”

I was born and raised in Northern Kentucky.  I did move away for college and stayed away teaching and going to grad school for about 8 years.  And then, I moved even further away to teach English…. in Japan, for a year!

But, I came back!  I always knew I wanted to get married and raise a family BACK HOME in NKY.  I just love my city!  And I love that Northern Kentucky is made up of so many little cities with unique personalities all their own.   It’s made up of 3 large counties but we keep that small town feel.  We’re just minutes from a big city (Cincinnati) but you run into people you know everywhere you go!   I can’t wait to see the great things this area has to in store for us, as my kids grow.

I’m so excited that I was chosen to be an ambassador for a campaign called myNKY.  Vision 2015 is looking for the citizens of Northern Kentucky to take part in the 6 month campaign.  It’s designed to involve the people of our communities to help shape the future of our region.

“How should Northern Kentucky leaders spend their time and resources over the next five years? Should their focus be education? Infrastructure? Financial security for our residents? Something entirely different?”

Great communities don’t happen by accident.

“They require a plan shaped by the hopes, dreams, wants and needs of the community. They need you.  They need your voice.   Join other community members and business, civic, education, and religious leaders in determining the future of Northern Kentucky in the next five years.  How?   Share your ideas with us to make a difference in your own backyard.”

After all, who knows your community better than you? We hope to tap into your good, informed ideas and use those to help plan our future. Using the power and reach of modern technology, we hope to involve more community members than ever before to discover powerful, life-changing ideas for a better Northern Kentucky.”
