Chocolate Lovers Delight

September 27, 2013 by Erin Leave a Comment

I am surrounded by chocolate lovers.  My kids and my husband love the stuff, can’t get enough.  Me, not so much.  I know.  I’m such a weirdo.  How can I even call myself a woman??  I blame it entirely on my parents, who were crazy hippies when I was little.  They (we) were vegan and or vegetarian for years when I was growing up.  So, when I was about 6 or 7, in my Easter basket instead of a lovely hollow chocolate bunny like the other (normal) kids, I got a SOLID CAROB bunny.  And I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  I was so lucky!  I ate the whole thing.  And then I got sick.  Suddenly, I thought I had died and gone to HELL.  It was not pretty.  So, I kind of lost my taste for chocolate, since it reminds me of carob to this day. 🙂

I suppose looking back, it could have been my fault since I had no self control and ate the whole thing.  And that my parents were probably excited that they found a chocolate substitute for my Easter basket…..but still, I might continue blaming them.  🙂

But, I recently had the opportunity to try out some delicious Brookside Dark Chocolate.  I picked up two bags of the Brookside Chocolate.  We tried both flavors, the Dark Chocolate with Acai and Blueberry and the Dark Chocolate with Pomegranate.  They are so stinking good.  No carob flashbacks!!  Just tasty fruity chocolate!!

Brookside Chocolate is an artful blend of exotic fruit juices and flavors from around the world.  They are the ultimate chocolate experience.  Brookside Dark Chocolate Pomegranate and Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry have a soft fruit filled center and are covered with smooth dark chocolate.  I mean, who doesn’t love smooth dark chocolate?  It’s good for you!  🙂  Right?

Would you like to discover Brookside for yourself?  Sam’s club stores will be demo-ing Brookside Chocolates in all of their stores on October 5th.  Bring your family and friends and get some free chocolate samples.

We ate our right out of the bag at first.  Delicious.  My kids liked the Acai and Blueberry flavor the best.  I really liked the combination of the smooth dark chocolate with pomegranate better.  So tart and sweet and delicious. They are both fantastic, though.

I decided it would be delicious to add some to my granola.  Yes.  I was right.  Dark Chocolate covered Pomegranate in my Citrus Coconut Granola mixed with yogurt.  Breakfast of champions.

Then I decided to add the rest of our chocolate to some nuts and other things we had in the pantry to make some G.O.R.P.  And this is now the whole family’s new favorite snack.  It only lasted for one day.  What is G.O.R.P. you may ask?  Well, I thought everyone knew.  My husband thought I was crazy and that I made it up.  I DID NOT.  It’s a real thing.  It stands for Good Old Raisins and Peanuts.  Of course my GORP has no raisins or peanuts in it, but I still call it GORP (because it’s more fun to say than trail mix).
