The kids and I went on a little field trip with the bird’s preschool this morning. Fun! The bean LOVED it of course. How do boys know that they are meant to adore all things truck and boat and train related? It’s just in them. Crazy.
I’ve never been in a firehouse. I didn’t realize that they live there for a day or two at a time. There are kitchens with lots of fridges and rooms with 10 beds! There was even a room with a TV and 8 leather recliners! How cool is that? They also have a work out room because they are required to work out for an hour during every shift! Great idea. You don’t want a fireman who can’t lift you to save you from a burning building.
The firemen were all very nice. They showed us all around the trucks. They showed us the enormous fans that they use to get rid of smoke. (I’ve seen those fans before. Up close. In my house. When I caught the oven on fire while trying to cook bacon.) I turned our gas oven into a giant ball of flames that reached the ceiling and threatened the whole kitchen, when the bird was just a baby. Kevin was golfing. He came home to firemen the house and Lucie and I in the yard. 🙂 Apparently open flames, gas, bacon fat in an enclosed oven do not mix. I’ve learned. Anyway, here are some pics of our field trip. (I didn’t mention “the great bacon fire of ’08” to the nice firemen ….even when they asked the group who had a personal experience with fire department….shhh.)
