a is for acorn

October 7, 2010 by Erin 2 Comments

I did think of a little craft to make with our stash of acorns from the other day. I drew a capital and a lowercase letter “A” on card stock. I let Lucie dip the acorn “hats” into a puddle of glue on a paper plate and then stick them to the card…following the line I drew for the uppercase A. SHE LOVED IT. She wanted to make like 10 of them. She loved dipping the caps in the glue and following the line. I think I might have to make one for every letter. Buttons for B. Coins for C. I’m on a roll. Diamonds for D! ๐Ÿ™‚ hahaha

I like this project because it reminds me of something kids do in preschool. I think the bird would ADORE preschool, but we just can’t make the whole transportation thing work with my own work schedule. So, this is the next best thing. She begs me to let her go to school everyday. Hopefully that means she’ll be a good student. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also found a cool felt acorn tutorial here at The Speckled Dog. I will be trying this with the rest of our acorn caps. I just imagine they would look so happy and festive all in a bowl.

That’s a really cute acorn project. I may try it with my niece and nephews this weekend.
