It has been pouring down rain here – a perfect time to do some rain painting. It is so easy and rewarding.
First – you get some paper – any paper will do. We’ve done it with construction paper, printer paper, grocery bags, butcher paper, the back of old blue prints from grandpa – anything. Experiment with which kind you like the best. If you use big paper – it makes funky homemade wrapping paper. Every paper has a slightly different effect.
And then you color it with markers – the washable ones make different patterns than the non washable ones – again, experiment. They are both cool.
Then when your picture is done (someday one of ours will be an actual picture – but for right now they’re all just cute scribbles) just lay it out side in the rain and watch it. The rain turns in into a cool watercolor. A light rain makes neat little dots and a downpour just runs all the colors around (like our example) Both look neat. Just be sure to run out there and check it after a minute or two because different papers don’t hold up well to too much rain.
Then bring it in and let it dry. (do not bring it in through your living room dripping blue and purple marker all around – heehee – whoops)
Fun and easy.
And – I have 23 followers!! How exciting. I am going to have a cool giveaway when I reach 25! So stay tuned for that! 🙂
This is so cute! It would give the kids a chance to play in the rain while they watch their painting emerge! Love it.
I would love for you to stop by my blog for a fun giveaway! Have a wonderful day! http://alittleknickknack.blogspot.com/2010/06/vacation-week-giveaway.html
