Father’s Day is just around the corner. I’ve made my husband, dad and father-in-law a present – but you can’t see it until after I give it to them! ๐ So, I thought I would share a little something the kids and I made for my dad for his birthday.
My dad has a favorite saying…”Children are the bees and grandchildren are the honey!” Or something like that.
So I decided we would make him a grilling apron with that on it. I used fabric paint and just squeezed it out on a plate. I helped the kids stamp their yellow thumb prints all over and I turned them into bees. I helped them stamp their gold thumb prints into a honeycomb and then I used rubber alphabet stamps to make the saying. Turned out cute I think.
We also bought a stepping stone kit at Hobby Lobby (with a handy 40 percent of coup, of course). The bird helped me mix the concrete and I poured it into the mold and stamped the saying. I let her help me make the flowers and bees. I told her where to press them in. ๐ It is pretty cute too. Those kits come with everything you need, including the stamps – they’re fun, easy and a really cute addition to any garden or yard. Check them out.
And now for the giveaway.… Just in time for Father’s Day.
A perfect handmade gift for the dad in your life.
A hand turned wooden pen – like the ones in the first pic. It’s my dad’s new hobby. He made me a really cool one for me for Mother’s Day and he’s agreed to make one for me to giveaway on my blog. ๐ Thanks Dad.
He doesn’t sell them, but we checked out Etsy to price them and the kind he makes range in price from about $40 – $90, I guess depending on the kind of wood. I will ask him and then update with the kind of wood he is using for this pen. He hand applies several layers of natural oil to bring out the beauty of the wood. They are genuinely unique and a one-of-a-kind treasure that you will love or would make a very neat gift. Good Luck. ๐
I’ll be sure you get it by Father’s Day.
