handprint canvas

April 24, 2010 by Erin 8 Comments

The kiddos and I made this for my dad for his birthday a few months ago. I’ve had the idea floating around my head for while. I saw it somewhere, but for the life of me I can’t remember where. A blog, a magazine – no idea – or I would give credit. But, I saved it in my brain to make someday. And here it is. It was easy and would be great for a mom or grandma for Mother’s Day.
First, I painted the canvas tan.
Then, I stamped the words I wanted “Grandpa is wrapped around these little fingers” onto white tissue paper and then Mod Podged the tissue paper to the canvas. I guess I could have stamped the words right onto the canvas, but I was afraid I would mess up.
Last, I painted the kids hands and helped them press it to the canvas.
Let it dry and covered the whole thing with light layer of Mod Podge. Cute. Easy. Fast.

Hi! I love your website. What a clever and cute idea. I host a link up party called TOT TUESDAYS every Tuesday where people share their recipes, crafts and activities for toddlers. I’ve also currently got a giveaway for a Mother Earth scarf at the moment. I hope you’ll stop by:

Thanks for inspiring me this week on my Tot Tuesdays link up party! I hope you’ll stop by again this week.

I’m hosting Yummy Mummy Week May 9th-16th and I’ve got a great group of ladies sharing their tips on fitness, fashion, parenting and relationships as well as a giveaway everyday. And I’d love for you to share a story and some photos of how your life and body have changed since becoming a mom. The Link up party starts on Mother’s Day and runs the whole week.

Have a great week and Happy (Early) Mother’s Day!

I love this. I plan on doing this for father’s day. What size is the canvas? Also what kind is stamps did you use for the letters?

OH I am so glad. I bought whatever canvas was on sale at Hobby Lobby. I brought my kids with me so I could see what size would fit the hands the best. I used stamps I had on hand, but you could use any! You could even write it. 🙂 Can’t wait to see what yours looks like. Please share.
