Who wants to come with me to the Old West?  Oh yeah!  The sixth annual Old West Festival promises to transport visitors back in time to an authentic Dodge City Wild West town circa 1878!   (no Delorean required!  But, Marty McFly Michael J. Fox is welcome to join!) 😉

The Old West Festival is coming to Ohio and bringing the wild west to life for 5 weekends!  (from September 7th to October 6th, 2013) And each weekend has a different theme.  AND you know how much I.LOVE.A.THEME!

You can check out the details about the themes and freebies and schedule each weekend here.

Cowboy Hero Weekend Sept. 7-8

Native American Weekend Sept. 14-15

Steam Punk Weekend Sept. 21-22

Villains Weekend Sept. 28-29

America’s Pastime Weekend October 5-6

This old west town has everything you would expect to see in a real western town if you stepped back in time.  Attendees will enjoy historically accurate medicine shows, gun fights, saloon shows, can-can dancers, gunfights, jailbreaks, trick shooting and more!!  There are period interpreters in the streets performing the rolls of cowboys, storeowners, residents and outlaws!!  My kids are going to love it!

The Old West Festival is a great time for the kids, too.  At 10:15 daily the kids can get sworn in as deputies and enjoy old-timey puppet and magic shows.  There is are sing-a-longs and story times and historic games.  They can take a train ride, pony ride and a covered wagon ride!   They can even pan for gold!  Good old-fashioned family fun!

We want to go to the Native American weekend because it works for the calendar, although I secretly want to be a villain.

I would love to win tickets!! We are a family of 4….we have a 12 yr old and 9 yr old. We were at Jungle Jim’s for the Wild West event and my kids were a little too nervous to volunteer for free tickets, but they really want to go.
