Hi guys. I’m super excited about what I get to share with you today!
I recently had the privilege of interviewing an extraordinary lady, songwriter, friend and musician. Do you know the fabulous Mae Klingler? If you don’t, you need to. She just released a phenomenal new album called The Mighty Small.
Find out why you should check it out!

Here’s my interview with the lovely and remarkable Mae Klingler.
Hi Mae. So excited to talk to you about the record today. It’s fantastic and I’ve really been enjoying it.
Hey, Erin. Thank you so much, that means a lot. And thanks for taking the time to ask me about the record! I really appreciate it.
1. What can we expect with the new album?
I think people can expect to be surprised. This record definitely falls under the singer-songwriter category, but there’s a twist on it that’s sort of hard to define. I like to call it adventure folk, whatever that means.
Oh yeah, I can see that. I absolutely get ‘adventure folk’ after listening to it!
2. What are your favorite songs and why?
Oh boy, that’s a really tough question. Each song is special to me for different reasons. Can I get break it down? If we’re talking about fun and dancy, I play “I Don’t Miss You At All”. But if I’m looking for something a little more epic, I’d probably play “Dragons”. But then again I love performing “End Up Here”. This is hard!
I definitely agree that it’s hard to choose. I find myself having a new favorite each time I listen. But I think my go to is “I Don’t Miss You At All.”
3. What was your inspiration for this album?
Inspiration comes from all over for me. Some of these songs are born from experiences I’ve had myself. But a lot of them are inspired by what’s happening around me: books I’ve read, the stories of people I’m close to, or sometimes just the stories I wish were my own experiences.
4. Who were your musical influences?
I love listening to Katie Herzig; she does a tremendous job of layering her production and creating beautiful soundscapes to accompany really honest lyrics. It’s super beautiful to listen to and watch in concert. I also love Ingrid Michaelson’s songwriting and her amazing voice. I was also super inspired by Feist, Patty Griffin, Over the Rhine, Kim Taylor, pop music in general…there’s a lot to be inspired by.
5. How can we get the new album?
It’s available for pre-order on iTunes now. If you pre-order, you’ll get Dragons as an instant download and the rest will automatically download November 4. You can also order through maeklingler.com. Or catch me on the street – I guarantee I’ll have a copy or two with me.
Thanks, Erin, for the questions!
Thanks, Mae, for the answers. 🙂

It was a pleasure to interview sweet, sweet Mae! (She rocks my face.) Her debut album is beautiful and soulful and one that I can listen to again and again. It’s ‘Adventure Folk’ and it’s just perfect.
