We just love the Newport Aquarium. I hadn’t taken the kids in a loooong time, and we had the chance to go back last night to see the new exhibit. It was AMAZING. If it’s been a while since you’ve been there, you NEED TO GO!
Spring Break is coming up and it’s such a fabulous place to take the kids. And you can buy an annual pass for just about the price of admission twice. Great deal! (And you know I love a deal.)
The awesome new Turtle Canyon on March 22 just in time for Spring Break.
The Turtle Canyon is AWESOME! I really love turtles anyway, so I am kinda easy to impress, turtle-wise!
But, the Galapagos Tortoise, Bravo, was MY FAVORITE! He was impressive! He weighs more than 600 pounds and was one of the last Galapagos Tortoises allowed off of the Galapagos Islands. He came to the US in 1926 and he was already an adult. SO HE IS OLD! He’s 88 FOR sure, but since he was an adult already when he got here, he could be over 100 years old.
The Turtle Canyon features a diverse collection of more than 14 species of turtles. They have Bravo from the largest tortoise species in the world and also tiny little turtles. Turtle Canyon has turtles of all shapes and sizes. You can see Thunder, the Alligator Snapping Turtle and Denver the Loggerhead Sea Turtle, too.
And of course there is way more to the Newport Aquarium than Turtle Canyon.
You can see sharks and OH YEAH…. PET THE SHARKS! Seriously, I had forgotten about this part. My kids are still talking about it.
You can get your picture taken behind a wall of LIVE jellyfish.
You can meet the rays….the happiest of all sea creatures. Just look at that smile.
And of course there’s Mighty Mike. He is HUGE. I couldn’t even fit him in the picture.
You can take a selfie with a penguin. 🙂 (or not!) haha
There is so much to see and do at the aquarium. We could stay the whole day.
So, if you’re sticking around Cincinnati for a Spring Break stay-cation ….or if you’re coming to Cincy for Spring Break, I recommend a visit to the Newport Aquarium. So fun!
