Frisch’s holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first ever job. Ever! I know. I wish I had a picture for you.
OK, I’ll describe it!
I was in high school and I was a server. I wore a thin white button-down short-sleeved shirt with tiny gray Big Boys printed all over it and a gray polyester bow tie! Aaaand a mid-calf gray polyester wrap skirt with required panty hose AND gym shoes! It was a great look! 😉
Luckily they’ve updated their uniforms and now they dress more like they work in a 50’s diner. LUCKIES!
Even though I did NOT love the uniform back then and I’m super glad they changed it…..the quality of food has remained the same. Who doesn’t love a Big Boy and onion rings with tartar sauce?? YUM! All washed down with a diet vanilla Coke. They do add delicious new menu items, but I always fall back on the old favorites! I’m kind of predictable.
And don’t get me started on the ice. Seriously. The best ice. Fluffy and crunchy. I crave it. I’m sure that means there’s something wrong with me, but it’s OK.
In high school, my friend and I that worked there together would eat handful of it fresh right out of the machine! Ice crunching bliss. 😉
May 3 is Founder’s Day at Frisch’s Big Boy and they want to celebrate Dave Frisch’s birthday with you!
Visit any Frisch’s Big Boy restaurant on May 3 dressed as Big Boy and you’ll receive a FREE Big Boy! {Partial Big Boy costume gets a free sandwich and a full head to toe Big Boy costume gets you a PLATTER! 😉 } Onion rings and a side salad baby!! (with thousand island please.)
I had the pleasure of checking out the commissary recently and it was a super fun experience. I got to meet Mr. Frisch’s granddaughter, Karen Maier, who is the Vice President of marketing. And I got to meet the Head Chef and Director of Research and Development, Greg Grisanti.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that almost everything on the menu is made fresh and from scratch daily at the commissary Amazing. There are no pre-made or frozen foods. Desserts, pie-crusts, bread, onion rings, chili, soups…everything is made from scratch. No big nasty food trucks here. Chef Greg also has gotten rid of all the high-fructose corn syrup from the whole menu (except in the pop). I just love it. After he made us breakfast, he convinced me to try one of the new Primetime Burgers on the menu too. They’re made with the smash method to seal in flavor. YUM! I’m prepared to deviate from my regulars.
Channel your inner Big Boy and create your own costume or take the easy way out and print a free printable costume here. You know I do love free printables!! 😉

I didn’t work at Frisch’s, but my sister did when we were in HS. I worked at the WalMart directly behind the Frisch’s, and when I got off work on Fridays, my WalMart friends and I would stop in for the hot fudge cake while I waited to drive my sis home. Ah…memories. 🙂
I hope I win!
I used to be a Swiss Miss girl. Now, I love the Grilled Chicken Wrap. I loved going to Frisch’s when I was a kid. I even had a Big Boy bank. 🙂
When I was a kid my favorite thing was absolutely their Chili Spaghetti… mmm I have so many yummy memories with the family there 🙂

Your Pin It Banner that comes up is awesome. I remember seeing instructions for that in the Cincy Bloggers group. Did you do that yourself? How did you do it? If not, who did it?!
Thanks Liz! It was Christina from Spilled Milkshake. She rocks! She did my Genesis Migration. Funny…I found her because you e-mailed me about a giveaway she was having! bahahaha. Small world. I will ask her.
