I love tulips and daffodils. SERIOUSLY, I LOVE ‘EM! 🙂 I get giddy when I see the first blooms of Spring emerging in everyone’s yards. Usually my joy quickly turns to jealousy, however, because I realize that I forgot AGAIN to plant bulbs in the fall so I can enjoy my own flowers! 🙂 Every single fall I say I’m going to plant some, and I somehow never do. Durn it.
But, last year my mom gave me some potted tulips and daffodils toward the end of the season. Hooray! I enjoyed them in my kitchen for a few weeks and then stuck those suckers in the ground outside. I finally remembered! They came up a couple of weeks ago, so this year I have no pangs of jealousy over other peoples flowers. I have my very own! 🙂 Aren’t they pretty? They just make me smile when I pull in the driveway every day.
My mom also adores tulips. I guess it’s because she’s Dutch. Since her family’s from Holland, maybe it’s just in our blood or something. Or maybe everyone loves them as much as we do. I mean, how could you not? 🙂
I picked up these perfect orange tulips at Kroger today. Aren’t they lovely? Are you smiling just looking at them? 🙂 I’ve been loving anything orange lately. I tied a colorful ribbon around the pot and I’m going to give them to my Mom next week as an Easter / hostess gift. The bird can’t wait to give them to Grandma. That girl loves giving gifts. I know she’ll just love them and I get to enjoy them for the next week on my table. haha. BONUS.
Need a great gift…you should think about potted bulbs. They really last forever. So much better than cut flowers, which you have to throw away. You get to plant the bulbs and enjoy them year after year after year. Plus, they are so super easy to find. You can get them at grocery stores, garden centers or flower shops. What an easy, inexpensive and perfectly thoughtful gift. I plan on getting a few more to give away as happy gifts. I mean, who wouldn’t love getting a pot of flowers?! You could even throw in a melted crayon rock from the kids and for a personal touch. See the ones we made up there? They’ve weathered pretty nicely.
My Spring Break officially started today and I can’t wait to get to work on my garden! And clean out some more trouble spots in the house. whoohoo.
Happy Spring everyone! 🙂
