things I buy from trader joes 2

Well, the first edition of “things I buy at Trader Joe’s” was a big hit, so I thought I’d do it again.  🙂  I went through our cabinets after a recent trip and took a bunch of pictures to share some more of our favorites with you.

Did you know ……
“All of the foods in the Trader Joe’s name are made without artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. They have no MSG, no added trans fats, no genetically modified ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup. We buy directly from the manufacturer whenever possible, and we cut out all the added costs that tend to drive up the price of supermarket foods – things like bid ad budgets, coupons and slotting fees. We keep it simple. Good food, great prices. Every day.
In addition to sourcing all of its store brand products from Non-GMO ingredients, which it began in 2001, TJ’s began to source in 2005 all of its store brand eggs from cage-free hens. In 2010, the retailer announced that it had committed to sourcing all of its seafood purchases to sustainable sources by December 31, 2012. This applies to all formats of seafood that it offers: frozen, fresh, and canned.”

I love knowing that when it says Trader Joe’s (or Trader Giotto’s, or Trader Jose’s) I’m buying something with no GMOs, no high fructose corn syrup and no MSG (among other nasty things) AND I’m not spending an arm and a leg.

OK – onto the list.  🙂

28.  Cilantro Hummus
29.  Kalamata Olive Hummus

I seriouslyADORE all the hummus there.  I’m always disappointed when I run out and have to buy hummus at Kroger.  The cilantro one is my favorite and I usually buy I usually buy two of them and throw one in the freezer.  Yes, it’s that good.  I’ve also been loving the 3 layered one lately….but it’s all gone…..so there’s no picture.  🙂

30.  Chile and Onion Tortillas (AMAZING)
31.  Whole Wheat Tortillas
I usually buy at least two packages of each of these tortillas so that I can keep some in the freezer.   They are perfectly chewy and delicious.  Great with the hummus!!

32.  Pizza Dough

Again, I usually buy a few so I can keep one or two in the freezer.  I use them for everything…pizza, breadsticks, calzones, stromboli, and most recently pull apart pizza bread.

33.  Dijon Mustard
So good on baked chicken or in a marinade or mixed up with olive oil and lemon juice for a quick vinegarette.
24.  Sugar Chocolate and Coffee Bean Grinder – read my first post about it here.
35.  Lemon Pepper
36.  Rainbow Peppercorns
37.  Everyday Seasoning
38.  Himalayan Pink Salt – read why it’s so good for you here.
39.  Smoked Sea Salt – makes everything taste like bacon!  🙂
40.  South African Smoke Seasoning
41.  Rice and Bean Chips

These are so crispy and flakey and unique.  You gotta try them.

42.  Roasted Seaweed Snack
My kids and I eat these things right up.  They aren’t filling, but they are so so tasty.
Like eating sushi air.  🙂

43.  Falafel Chips
I think these are new.  I just bought them last time and LOVED them.  I ate them with the hummus, but Taseki would be amazing too!   They really taste like a falafel.

44.  Thai Vegetable Gyoza
Really good when I make Asian food.  Kevin loves them.  They taste just like the ones we order out.

45.  Japanese Style Fried Rice
This is one of my newest favorites.  It has edamame and tofu in it, and while we usually try and stay away from unfermented soy, I make an exception for this stuff.  It’s amazing.  So much flavor!

46.  Organic Preservative Free Mayo
47.  Parmesan Cheese  (so much cheaper than Kroger)

48.  Cheddar and Jalapeno Pub Cheese
This is Kevin’s favorite thing ever.  It’s really is good and not too spicy.  The kids eat it, too We don’t get it everytime, it’s a treat.  🙂
49.  Laundry Detergent
Phosphate and Formaldehyde free and smells like lavender.

50.  Fennel, Propolis & Myrrh Toothpaste.
It’s natural and fluoride free.
The kids like it, since it’s not minty (spicy).  I’ve bought the mint flavor before but for some reason it’s really hard to squeeze out.  I like this one better.
51.  Two Three Buck Chuck
Gotta get it every time!  🙂
