food. cubed.

February 24, 2010 by Erin 3 Comments

During our recent trip to Chattanooga, I felt so inspired (guilty) by my friend’s freezer- stocked with many bags of beautiful homemade baby food cubes. So, when we got home, I decided that there is really no reason why I shouldn’t be doing the same thing for poor Sam. Neglected little bean. hehehe. Lucie LOVED the baby food that I made her, but with Sam, it kind of got pushed aside ….. as so many things do with the second one. I made about 90 percent of Lucie’s, but I had only done one big batch for Sam – before now. It was time for another. So, I got busy – and now our freezer and the baby’s belly are full. I made a nice big batch. They look so pretty and colorful – don’t you think? There are several of the bird’s old favorites, like broccoli and curry brown rice.

Some other flavors include…..
kale and potatoes (I love this one too, just not pureed) 🙂
swiss chard and beet greens
broccoli and brown rice
corn and curry
berries and beets – I add one of these cubes to Lucie and Sam’s applesauce. yum.
green beans and lentils
peaches and cinnamon
apples and raspberries
banana and avocado (mmmm – bananacado)
carrots and lentils

I like to add a dash or two of these spices to the food each day too. Lucie is an adventurous eater (so far) and while I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she ate all this same stuff as a baby….. you never know. 🙂

I ran out of cube trays – So I used muffin tins for the fruit.

The stockpile.

The spices.

You should have just taken it all home with you from here! Luc doesn’t want it anymore. He’s on to adult food with a passion. 🙂
