The Best Christmas Cookie Ever and a {Giveaway}

December 17, 2014 by Erin 1 Comment

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rock-it Oil for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

So, The Best Christmas Cookie Ever.  Yes, I said it.  It’s high praise for a recipe, I know, but it’s 100 percent true!  These things are THE BEST.

My mom has been making these cookies for over 20 years, and it is JUST NOT CHRISTMAS, until we make them.  I love them.  And the best part is that they don’t require baking!  HOORAY!  Because while I do love to cook, I can’t stand to bake.  It’s all too exact and sciency.

But, I must warn you, these cookies are no-bake, but they are not “no-mess”!  They make a big ole’ sticky mess.  (At least when I make them, they do)  I’m a messy cook. 😉  But they are oh so worth it!  Trust me.  I wouldn’t lie to you.

They are basically like rice krispy treats, but with corn flakes.  Now, how can such a little change make such a huge difference, you ask?  I don’t know.  But beleve me when I tell you, they are one million times better than rice crispy treats!  No contest.  Try them and tell me if you disagree.

We call them Holly Cookies, but I’ve seen recipes where they form them into little wreath shapes.  Super cute.  Way more work, but super cute!

Holly Cookies

What you need:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package marshmallows
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons green food coloring.  We ran out so mine are a bit light.
  • 4 ½ cups cornflakes
  • 1 package cinnamon red hot candies

What you do:

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt together the marshmallows, butter, vanilla, and food coloring.
  2. Mix in the cornflakes well.
  3. Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper, or directly onto your countertop!  😉
  4. Decorate with red hots.
  5. Set aside, and allow to cool.  (if you can stand to wait that long)
  6. Eat and enjoy!

OK, so these things are amazing and while most people are baking thier little hearts out this season, I will be no-baking more of these babies!

But, they do leave a mess.

It’s no problem for me, beacuse I like to keep my counters clean with Rock-it Oil Stone Cleaner.

Seriously, this stuff makes my counter just shine!  It acts like a magnet to remove trapped dirt and stickiness without scratching the surface of our counters.  It beats any conventional cleaner!  It polishes without streaking and leaves no filmy residue.  It’s food prep surface safe and environmentally freindly.  Just spray it on, watch it foam up and rinse it off.  My counters are so shiny after I use it.
