I had to make a trip to the hardware store yesterday. While we were there I remembered that I’d seen this cool idea on Tatertots and Jello a little while ago and wanted to try it. So, I picked up a few things.
wooden dowel………75 cents
eye hooks…………….99 cents
string…………………..already had.
bubble solution…….already had.
washer or nut………already had.
So… for about two dollars……We made the coolest, biggest bubbles ever and had so much fun. I’m going to try the homemade solution next time to see if we can get even bigger bubbles. Tatertots and Jello has the a great tutorial and bubble recipe on her site.
Basically, I cut the dowel in half and then screwed the eye hooks into the ends by hand. I tied a large piece of string between them with the nut on it to weigh the bottom of the string down. It took about two minutes to make it. The bird and her cousin, who are both three years old, could even make giant bubbles all by themselves. Lucie tried for about 45 minutes to see how big she could make them. Ours aren’t as large as I have seen. I think my string was a little bit thick – but they were still the biggest bubbles I have ever made. Fun.

AH! We’ll have to try this. Cash loves the big bubble making thing at the Creative Discovery Museum, so I think this would be right up his alley!
