easter advent

March 29, 2010 by Erin 2 Comments

I made this egg advent last week and thought I would share. I’ve seen them on a few other sites before- and Tracy (from paper wings) made one recently and hers is so cute. It’s such a great idea and so simple. I wanted a clever way to get Lucie excited about Easter and the meaning of it all. She really enjoyed our Christmas advent calendar, so I thought this was perfect. I really like that Tracy put a scripture in each egg. So, I started there. As I was typing the scriptures to go inside, I decided that they were a little difficult to explain. So, I ended up just typing the Easter story in a simplified way (for a 2 1/2 year old to understand) and cutting it into 6 pieces. Then I put each piece into an egg, twice. So after 12 days, we will have gone through the story two times. Of course we talk about the eggs we have already opened each time we open a new one. She retells it pretty well already. She gets really excited when it’s time to open a new egg. (could be the 4 M & M’s inside!) Next year I am going to make a few eggs with non-food treats inside. It’s a cute project. You still have time to do it with 6 eggs if you want! Try it. 🙂

She just discovered what was in the egg! How exciting!

She is saying “Hosanna, Hosanna!” (we just talked about Palm Sunday)

ahh, yours looks great with the rub on numbers! I should have waited, but couldnt…too excited. Cash loves it, and tries to open more than one a day!

Thanks Tracy. Lucie tries to open more than one too! They aren’t rub on numbers – just sharpie, like yours! I thought your sharpie was a great idea, because I didn’t have any rub on’s either! 🙂
