I knew it was supposed to rain today so I tried to think back to my student teaching in Kindergarten days for a quick Springy and simple craft to do during play date. I also wanted to come up with something that I had all the ingredients for. Coffee filter butterflies! So easy – I didn’t even have to help. (much)
First, the kids use markers to color on the coffee filter.
Then they use a spray bottle with to spray water all over it until it is soaked.
Then you let it dry completely. (which surprisingly doesn’t take very long). When it’s dry – you just bunch it up in a clothes pin. I put a pipe cleaner antennae on it (just pinched it in the pin) and a magnet on the back – but you really don’t have to do that. (see …I did help a little) Then the kids flew them around a bit. It was super easy and I think they turned out really really cute. Very nice for spring.

OMG! My son is in 2nd grade and he was trying to describe these butterflies he made one day in school. All he could remember was that it he used a coffee filter and markers. I’ll have to show him this and make them on a rainy day!! I’m enjoying your blog, immensly, by the way 🙂
