meat meet

June 26, 2011 by Erin 7 Comments

My husband mentioned a few months ago that he wanted to have a guys night. So, I helped a little…. and he had his first “man’s meat meet”! It was pretty funny! Everyone had to bring their own meat AND cook it. Everyone had to grow a mustache. No veggies or side dishes were allowed. Only meat. They smoked and drank and played poker and went fishing. Here are some pics. Now that I look at the pictures again……..what a creepy party! haha ๐Ÿ™‚
First, I made an evite and a fun flyer.
(thanks Stephanie – she has mad Publisher skills)

Then, I made a trophy for the best moustache.

Nate was the big winner – check out that rockin’ ‘stache!
The kids wanted in on the “fun” and asked for moustaches too.
I took some quick pics before I packed ’em up and vacated the man party!

There was also a trophy for the best meat.
(What a strange sentence.)
I made the steak out of Fimo and hot glued it to the top of a trophy from the party store.
My Uncle Dan won it for shooting, bringing and cooking elk……and frog legs!
I made beer-sicles…….

…….and bacon maple chocolate chip cookies.
I posted the recipe here.

A plate of bacon….to get this party started right!
I went to the shooting range and picked up a few targets to use as a table cloth.
I put one on the front door too.
I also printed out a few different animals and their cuts of meat to lay around.

I found this guy at the shooting range too! He’s actually a target.
He seemed perfect for this party….. with his creepy moustache and all.

A plate of moustaches……ya know……just in case.

And here are pics of the night………men cooking and eating meat.
View at your own risk. ๐Ÿ™‚

The only veggies allowed were the ones on the ELK KABOBS!
(They made an exception for elk.)

Above are the frog legs……you can still see the little webbed feet!!! AHH.

One of these moustaches is a FAKE!
It’s not my dad’s. ๐Ÿ™‚ He was one vote away from the trophy.

The creepiest moustache of the night……my brother.
Next year there might have to be different moustache categories.
It’s hard for me to even look at this picture – all of them really!

A growler of beer. Gone. Perhaps a beer award next year?
And wife beaters. Classy.

Corn hole. I know…..what a terrible name for a game.

This is the best party idea ever!! Lol! I found you through your BLT pasta salad on Pinterest, but then started browsing — so glad I did! =)
My husband grew tired of his goatee thing earlier this year and decided to shave it into a “fantastic” (in an awful way of course, lol) handlebar mustache – similar to your winner, but it “attached” to his hair. Luckily he oly kept it for a few days. I showed him this post and he *loves* it! We’re cracking up over here. I pinned the idea to Pinterest and I’m sure we’ll be doing our own this Summer! =) Thanks for such a fun idea!

That is HIL-A-RIOUS!!!WHat a total riot. I’m going to have to show my hubby this themed party……though if I do, he’ll want one……and I’m not sure *I* am ready for that. They already have seasonal “Mans Weekends”.
