Winter is OVER! Holla. And now it’s time to get ourselves outside. We’ve been cleaning up the yard and getting things ready for Spring little by little. Buying mulch and plants. Raking up old leaves. We’ve even had to cut the grass already!
This girl LOVES being outside and she is super excited about our garden!
One thing we enjoy doing every year around this time is prepping our veggie garden! There’s nothing quite like munching on a big ole’ salad that you grew yourself. I know my kids definitely eat more vegetables when they know we grew and picked them from our very own yard. It’s so much fun. We have two square foot gardens on the side of our house and every year we plant a lot of different vegetables.
But, we really let it get away from us last year and the weeds totally took over. I was seriously considering not having a garden this year.
I mean seriously. Look at this mess! It used to be so pretty. I wanted to just take the whole thing out and plant some bushes this year. And just buy my veggies from the farmers market!
And then I found a SUPER. SIMPLE. FAIL-PROOF way to plant our garden this year. Miracle-Gro Gro-ables! They are these little pods that have everything you need right inside. Seeds, potting mix and plant food. Right in the pod! And, so, we will have a garden this year after all! haha.
Because all we have to do is plant, water and watch the seed pod grow! How simple is that? We loosen some potting mix and push the pod in until the top is level with the surface and then we water! I can’t wait to have little sprouts in a couple of weeks! The kids love to go out and water. It’s their “job”. Having a garden is such a fun activity. It gets us outside and into nature together. Plus…it really is so important for kids these days to have a hand in knowing where their food comes from. I’m glad Gro-ables is making it so easy on me!
All we have to do now is pull all these weeds! What a perfect job for little hands!!
One of them was feeling more helpful than the other! I’m excited to share our progress. I’ll take more pictures when we’re finished.
Want to know more about Gro-ables Projects? Each individual kit will come with 30 Gro-able pods in one variety. And you can choose from a list of 4-6 types.
Do you have any tips on growing plants with kids? I would love to hear them all! Please leave me a comment.
There’s a lot to learn from even the smallest plants. Miracle-Gro started the Gro-ables Project, a movement to share the joy of growing our own food while giving kids a fun hands on learning experience. I just love it! My kids are thrilled and we can’t wait to start seeing little sprouts. Join us by planting your own Gro-ables and sharing your story!
