My kids loooove the Night at the Museum Movies. (Actually so do I. They’re hilarious. You can’t go wrong with a little Ben Stiller and Robin Williams.) So, when we had the opportunity to spend the night at the Cincinnati Museum Center, we jumped on it!
School groups often spend the night at the museum or the zoo or the aquarium. But, did you know that you don’t have to be in a school group to spend the night at the Union Terminal?! I didn’t!! They have several nights open to the public!! You can book the public or private overnights for large or small groups, families, youth groups, scout troops or whatever. I just took the husband and the kids and we had a blast!!
Each overnight program has a theme. (And you know how I love a theme!!) We went on “Into the Wild” night. It was awesome. They brought the outside in and we got to meet all kinds of animals! The kids learned about our natural surroundings and local plants and animals.
After we met some of the resident creatures, we played fun plant and animal games, had a scavenger hunt and made some cool animal art inspired by Charley Harper!
Then it was snack time! They provided chips and juice. Perfect. My family was getting hungry! (Who am I kidding, these kid are always hungry!)
After that we had free reign to explore and play in the Children’s Museum. My kids COULDN’T WAIT to change into their jammies. Not everyone did that. But my kids thought it was hilarious opportunity to play at the museum in pajamas with their stuffed animals. So, they did. 🙂 Silly kids.
Then my husband decided we NEEDED to play ‘hide and seek’ by only hiding inside the exhibits. Hilarious. Goof balls.
We set up our sleeping bags right in front of the pond in “The Woods” section. It was the perfect place. The ground was a little cushiony and the white noise was awesome from the water!
If you own an air mattress – BRING IT! 🙂 We did not. And we lived. But it would have been a great idea.
Lights out. Good night!
When you wake up, they have breakfast waiting for you. Cereal, fruit, granola bars. AND COFFEE!!
Corn Pops and Fruit Loops! Mmmm.
After breakfast you get to watch an OMNIMAX movie. We got to see National Parks. So good.
And then you head home. Night at the Museum. Check! It was so fun. My kids just loved it. If you are planning a stay-cation next year or looking for an awesome thing to do that’s close to home, check out the Museum Overnights. We loved it. It was a unique, educational and fun experience that we won’t forget.
Each Overnight program includes educational programming, an evening snack, time to explore areas of Union Terminal, breakfast and an OMNIMAX® film. Recommended for ages 6 to 14.
