This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro Gro-ables for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

We were so excited to plant our garden a few weeks ago.  I almost didn’t have one this year because it seemed like it was totally beyond help.  Just covered in weeds.  But, we got out there in the dirt and pulled and tilled and cleaned it all up.  We planted all of our favorite vegetables and herbs.  And now it looks amazing.  We will be able to see little sprouts coming up in no time.  The Gro-ables pods made it super simple.  The kids loved it.  They just pushed the seed pod into loosened dirt until the top was level with the surface and then watered them daily.

But….we decided not to stop there!  We were in a planting mood and had a bunch of big, empty pots in the garage.  So, we filled them up and put them on our patio.

And now, we have our very own PATIO PIZZA GARDEN!  We planted the pods that contain things that we love to eat on our pizza.  Roma tomato, basil, parsley, jalapeño, sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes.  The pods made it simple!  Just plant and water.

When I mentioned this “Patio Pizza Garden” idea to the kids however, they’re eyes got really big.  I asked what they thought that I meant.  Sam imagined small pizzas sprouting out of the ground and growing larger and larger.  Lucie laughed and then imagined pepperoni and cheese and dough blooming from our plants.  Kids!  Imaginations!  It’s a good thing we planted a garden this year, so they understand what can actually grow from the ground!  hahahaha.  Pizza Garden!

Interacting with nature and growing our own food.  So fun and a perfect educational activity.

And then of course, we needed some cute garden markers.  I thought wooden spoons seemed appropriate for a pizza garden.  I headed up to the dollar store and bought some.  But, wooden just seemed so plain.  So, I spray painted them some fun colors.  Because I LOVE COLOR!  And plus I thought a coat of paint might keep them from being water damaged.

The kids used a permanent marker to write the names of the veggies on the spoons!  SO SIMLPE!  But, so cute.  I love the way they turned out.  miraclegro Our Patio Pizza Garden is perfect.  And it was so simple.  It only took a couple of hours from start to finish and now we can look forward to making lots of pizzas this summer with our home grown bounty!  The kids loved it.   It was a fun time out there with my little munchkins and the bonus is we get to have delicious veggies in a couple months! miraclegro5

Miracle-Gro started the Gro-ables Project because they believe that there’s a lot to learn from even the smallest plants.  It’s a movement to share the joy of growing herbs and veggies while giving kids truly hands-on learning experiences.  Join us by planting your own Gro-ables, taking part in the activities below and sharing your story!  It’s so fun!  And then come on over for some pizza in a few months!

Want to learn more about Gro-ables? They are so simple!  Everything you need to grow a fruit, herb, or vegetable is included in the little seed pod.  You just plant, water, and watch the seed pod grow your chosen variety of plant. Each Gro-able is guaranteed to grow and uses non-GMO seeds!! Just push the seed pod into loosened potting mix until the top is level with the surface and then water daily. In 1-2 weeks your seed will sprout.  WIN!

Each kit will come with 30 Gro-able pods in one variety. You can choose from a list of 4-6 types.

Gro-ables is a fun activity for kids and families that get kids outside and interacting with nature and food.
