Oh, Cedar Point. We just love you.
If you haven’t been, you seriously need to put it on your list. We’ve been three times in three years (and I don’t really even like roller coasters! bahaha.)
So, even though we live about 30 minutes from a big amusement park, we would rather make the four hour trip to Cedar Point every year, instead. It’s sooo worth it. Cedar Point is the “Roller Coaster Capital of the World.” And that’s true, but it’s also so much more. There are rides and attractions and fun for the entire family and we just can’t get enough.
When we visit, we always stay right on site at Hotel Breakers. I’m so excited to share some of the new renovations they’ve done. It’s completely refurbished and it’s so fun and fresh. It’s the perfect time to visit.
One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about Cedar Point and Hotel Breakers is all of the history. Guests have been coming by train and ferry for 110 years! I love that they incorporated old pictures from that time period all over the hotel.
In fact, a photo of the original hotel is on the wall behind the new front desk. So cool!
The updated lobby is gorgeous complete with carousel horses and fun house mirrors that my kids (and husband) played with.
You only have to walk in the front door to know that your stay is going to be magical.
The gorgeous 5 story rotunda has comfortable seating options for hanging out as well as a Starbucks and bar with patio. The patio has sweet fire pits (reminiscent of the carousel) that over look the beach. They’ve thought of everything.
So when we came the weather looked like this. It was crazy. It was one of the biggest storms I’ve ever seen.
The storm was insane and while the park was still open, no rides were running. I think they re-opened a few rides for a couple of hours in the evening. But, we decided to stay in the hotel, and we had a blast.
The kids and husband went swimming in the indoor pool while I hung out in the hotel and enjoyed the free wi-fi!
We like to utilize the dorm-sized fridge and microwave in the rooms, and we bring our meals and snacks to save some cash. (But there are all kinds of great dining options to enjoy without leaving the hotel like Perkins and TGI Fridays.)
Since it was still raining, we decided eat dinner in our jammies and stay in and play games. It was a great night, even though we couldn’t go to the park, because the hotel is so fun and comfortable. The park is main attraction, but now the hotel really creates such a fun atmosphere and we didn’t mind the storm as much.
And who wouldn’t love waking up under a roller coaster headboard!
If you stay at the hotel you also get early admission to the park an hour before the general public as well as discount tickets to the park. So, we used that the next day and got busy riding!
Cedar Downs is my FAVORITE ride! It’s kind of like a carrousel but sooo fast.
Rougarou is the new coaster and a good one for the more brave souls (my husband loved it!) It’s floor-less and gives the rider a unique feeling, because your legs dangle just inches above the ride’s orange steel track. Have fun with that. I’ll watch from the ground. 😉
I did ride the Iron Dragon a few times since my daughter BEGGED me to ride a coaster with her. 🙂 She’s adventurous and rode everything she was tall enough for!
The food in the park is very good and there are so many options. I highly recommend the all day dining plan! For $30 you can get a new meal every 90 minutes! And most places are included. Like Pink’s. Mmmm. Best chili dog and fries ever! We share.
And I’ve heard the re-fillable cup is awesome too, but you can always ask for free water all day, like we do.
We’ve been creating amazing family memories at Cedar Point and Hotel Breakers since my youngest was only 3! We wouldn’t change a thing. Put it on your list, for sure!
