I love to travel! And when I get to visit a new place I always make it a point to look up some fun, off-the-beaten path types of places to visit. So, when I recently took a girls trip to Indy, to the internet I went. And what kept coming up on my searches as a place NOT TO MISS, was Traders Point Creamery. I want you to go there.
So, on the list it went. And to me, it was the highlight of the trip. For sure it was the best place we went. The place is gorgeous, the people are friendly and the food was amazing!
Traders Point Creamery is a family owned artisan creamery and organic, 100% grassfed dairy farm in Zionsville, Indiana. Just a hop and a skip from Indianapolis. They were the first USDA-certified organic dairy farm in all of Indiana. They believe in “nourishing the land that nourishes us all.”
I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Not only is it a working farm and creamery, but also an amazing farm-to-table restaurant called The Loft. If you ever find yourself at all in the vicinity of Indianapolis or the 465 loop, you must stop here for a meal. Or a dessert. Or a tour. But probably all of those things.
They are open 7 days a week, for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Be sure to check the website, because the serve a seasonal menu. I want to make the trip every season to try it all!
You may have seen some of their products. Traders Point Creamery products are available at all Whole Foods stores. And also at their on site store. The little chocolate milk “shots” are adorable 5 ounce glass jars filled with creamy authentic Dutch chocolate milk! It’s a traditional recipe from The Netherlands! My motherland. So, you know I loved that! 🙂
We started with a cheese board and fig chutney. Oh the cheese. I can’t tell you how amazing it all was. Handcrafted from the milk of 100% grassfed happy cows. You can taste a difference. I loved them all!
And it all came from the most delicious place on earth. The CHEESE CAVE!
We tried the delicious and smooth butternut squash soup next. With fresh creme fraiche. Amazing. It was creamy and warm and just a little bit sweet.
And the Arugula and Salmon Salad. Honey-roasted root veggies, walnuts, preserved oranges, spiced fromage blanc and a mint vinaigrette. Yes, it was perfect.
I went with the burger. I love a good burger and this did not disappoint. 100% grassfed beef on a brioche bun, garlic aioli, fresh cheese and, of course, bacon! It was so good. One of the top 5 burgers of my burger tasting lifetime.
One of the girls got the Grilled Cheese. Toasted bread with Traders Point Creamery grassfed cheeses and bacon and avocado. It was delicious. We all shared it.
The Organic Steelhead Salmon with garden sunchoke puree and yellow beet-horseradish remoulade and roasted Brussels sprouts was divine. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors were so unique and all worked so well together. Those chefs know what they are doing over there.
And the star of the show. The Mac & Cheese. I can’t even begin to tell you. It’s gemelli pasta, bacon, kale, fresh house-made cottage cheese and onions with bread crumbs on top. Every bite was better than the last. We fought over it. You need this dish in your life!
And because you can’t ever say no to ice-cream. And you certainly can’t say no to “artisan, award-winning, made with 100 percent grassfed cream and milk” ice cream. We tried the vanilla and the chocolate. It was so creamy and so perfect.
You can get it right at the Loft, the Dairy Bar even buy a pint in the store.
The views were breathtaking and I can’t wait to go back in better weather for a tour!
