Hi, everyone! I’m excited to be here today with this cute little pinterest inspired Thanksgiving craft! Can you believe Thanksgiving is a little less than 3 weeks away!! I can’t believe this year is almost over! Time just flies by when you’re an adult and it’s kind of sad! I wish I could just pause time and keep my kids at the ages they’re at, 10, 8 and 4. But, alas, they do have to grow up.
Anyway, let’s move onto this cute craft I have for you today! I got the idea from this pin on pinterest. It was really simple to make, all you need are pinecones, cardstock in 3 different colors for the feathers, 1 piece of white cardstock, small pieces of ribbon and a hot glue gun.
We have a park down the street from our house that has pinecone trees so my 2 youngest kids and I went to gather some one day. They had SO much fun picking them out! lol you would think this wouldn’t be that fun of a task, but to them it was! We’re going to my in laws for an early Thanksgiving celebration and it will just be us and them so we will only need 7 name holders, but we got at least twice that many pinecones.
My 8 year old was excited that he also found a feather!
I told you, they were having fun collecting them!
Here is my finished pinecone turkey name holder! What do you think?
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the doily shape and also to write my name and cut out the rectangle. I used a black Silhouette sketch pen to write my name and a font called SketchTuesday from the Silhouette Online store.
I love how it turned out! Here’s a close up of the “feathers”. To keep the cardstock in place I used my glue gun in a few different areas where the pinecone was touching the cardstock on the front and the back.
Here’s a close up of the face. To get the eyes I just cut out the doily shape with my silhouette and they with my scissors I cut out one of the little scallops and drew on black eyes. I cut out a yellow beak and cut my ribbon piece and glue it behind the nose. It was pretty easy to make these and only took about 30 minutes because of the cut time and gluing it all together. I have one down, only 6 more to go!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
