HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season and are looking forward to 2014!!
I am sure you, along with 98% of Americans, have made your New Year’s Resolution/Intention list. And if I had to bet, something about being healthy, losing weight, getting more active, etc., made it’s way to the top. Feel good that you aren’t alone!
No matter what your healthy/fitness/diet related resolutions are, let me tell you that having a dance party is a great way to get there. I love simple solutions and a dancing your way to a healthier you is just that! What’s a dance party…so glad you asked…
Dancing around your house with your favorite music blaring! If you have kids…awesome…they will LOVE it!
But what does a dance party have to do with staying/getting healthy? Well, let me tell you!
1) Burn calories – Of course any movement is going to burn calories. But dancing around is so much more fun than running on a treadmill!
2) Fun – I mean who doesn’t love to dance! Ok..well..I don’t…at least not at weddings and other social gatherings. But at my house, alone or with my family…LOVE IT!
3) Cleansing – Oh yeah, both physically and emotionally. It’s pretty hard to be sad hoping around to Taylor swift, Beyonce, or whoever it is that gets your feet tapping! Plus if you get a nice glistening sweat, you will lose nasty toxins in your body! Bonus!
4) Kick Start – You are going to feel so good after dancing around that you will be more positive about the other health goals you have set!
There really isn’t a negative here. Get up and DANCE! I mean, just check out how much fun these guys are having!
In my house dance parties happen just about everyday. Usually the are spur of the moment, but they are always a great time! We even have dance-offs and have the kids judge us. It’s so fun! Post some of your family dance party videos here and let’s all dance to a better year!
Disclaimer – We get a bit crazy and jump and twist and go nuts! However, by the time I remembered I wanted to capture our dance party on video, we were pretty tired…so here’s us jumping around to music..you can call it “dancing” if you want, we do!
