We bought our house as a flip, so everything in our entire house is the cheapest-builder-grade-stuff you can buy. Thanks, flippers! All the door knobs, doors, closets, cabinets, fans, carpeting, tile, faucets, appliances, you name it….cheapest you can get. They bought giant drums of beige paint and painted.the.entire.house. It was fine when we first moved in and everything was still new, but now almost 5 years later everything is kind of worn out and run down. So, imagine how excited I was when I was sent a new Moen bathroom faucet to install and review!
Hooray!
I am a DIY girl from a DIY family. The first thing I did was open the box and read the instructions and then ….called my dad! 🙂 (The instructions seemed straightforward enough, and I’m sure I could have figured it out alone, but everything is just easier and more fun when Dad is around! )
The first thing Dad did was glance at the instructions and then find a good assistant. My four-year-old was THRILLED to have been chosen for the job! (Next Generation DIYer!)
And the fist thing my four-year-old did was run to get his tools! 🙂
And that is how we began.
It was actually pretty easy. It took less than an hour and then we ate pizza! It was a new faucet party! The tools I needed were a screwdriver, a crescent wrench and Teflon tape.
Here’s what we did.
First, I cleared out all the stuff from under my sink. (I needed an excuse to do that anyway, perfect!) I turned the water off under the sink. (very important!) 😉 Next, we removed the old faucet set by reaching up underneath the sink and unbolting it from the counter. Next I cleaned the old putty and caulking off. We installed the new set by putting it through the holes, then tightening the nuts underneath. I tightened everything a quarter turn. (Don’t over tighten!) We reconnected the waste and water and then turned the water back on. Checked for leaks. DONE!
The Moen Boardwalk 1-Handle bathroom faucet in Spot Resist is a fabulous addition to our guest bathroom. I’m a busy, blogging, homeschoolin’ mom. This faucet makes keeping a cleaner bathroom a breeze. I came to just ignore all those gross water spots and fingerprints on the old faucet. But this pretty brushed nickel faucet has a Spot Resist finish that fends off fingerprints and water spots so I don’t have anything to ignore. It also meets WaterSense criteria and uses 32% less water, but I don’t even notice it. Want one? You can get one of these pretty faucets at Lowe’s.
Good-bye, builder-grade faucet! Hello, nice fancy Moen Boardwalk.
Go ahead and Like Moen on Facebook and be sure to get to Lowe’s to find these great faucets.
