It’s very important to wash all of your produce. Even if you buy mostly organic veggies you still need to wash them. And plain old water doesn’t cut it. Your fruit and veggies are grown in dirt, dirt that most likely has pesticide residue from other crops even if your produce is organic. And if you do buy organic….guess what they use as fertilizer…..yeah….manure! YUMMY! 🙂
Washing doesn’t remove the toxins that have been absorbed into the plant while it was growing, which is why it’s so important to try and buy organic as much as possible. But, washing does remove potentially harmful organisms like bacteria, soil and pesticide residue. There are most certainly bacteria on your produce….just imagine how many people have touched that zucchini on it’s way from the farm to your home. 😉

I’m really bad about this. I do use Vinegar a lot for other stuff though. And my boyfriend uses lemons in a restaurant if they don’t have hand sanitizer. He said that is better than the soap in the bathroom for cleaning off your hands before eating. So he’ll just request lemon from the server and then squeeze it over his hands and rub them together.
