I never EVER thought that one of my resolutions would be fashion related. But, this year I am trying to stop dressing like…..well…..I don’t know….. a mom? A sloppy mom? I LOVE my yoga pants and pony tail! I just do, I can’t help it. I’m not overly concerned about fashion. I never have been. I like to be comfortable! And our budget doesn’t really allow much wiggle room for cute clothes and the newest fashions, so I don’t even bother. I think there is much more to life than fashion and appearance and spending money on how I look. Inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. But, I don’t want to be a slob, either.
But, even though I do have a few cute outfits (for special occasions), I usually wear the same sort of thing everyday. HELLO, RUT! I kind of feel like it’s time to step it up a little bit. I’d like to put my best foot forward and represent myself well. I’m in my mid 30’s, it seems like a good time! And there are ways to do it on a budget. I see all the cute fashion pins on Pinterest. I never really give them a second glance. (for shame)
I thought it would be fun to create an outfit of my own on Polyvore.com like the ones on Pinterset. It was F.U.N. really fun! I felt like a kid.
Remember those cool toys with the rubbing plates of skirts and tops and shoes? You could create a whole outfit and then color it in? It could have been a Barbie toy, maybe? I loved mine. Polyvore is like that. Kind of.
Of course no normal person could afford a whole new outfit like that…..but it was a lot fun to play. I think I will start small, maybe wearing some leggings that aren’t black and called yoga pants. I see cute colored pants, colored leggings and colored jeans all over the place these days. I could give the black a break. (at least one day a week.) 😉
No nonsense makes some great affordable leggings and tights that will help me pull together a cuter, less sloppy outfit for a night out or even a day at work. (People at work might have a heart attack if I showed up in something other than black pants. I’m pretty sure it’s all I’ve worn to work every day for the last three years.)
Plus I can find No nonsense tights and leggings anywhere. I can pick up a pair at drug stores, grocery stores, department stores…whatever. I mean, leggings kind of feel like yoga pants., right? 🙂 How can I go wrong?
