I was going for dinosaur, but the bean assures me it’s a shark. haha. So, shark it is. This DIY shark bike helmet is so easy.
Poor Sam. He out grew is first bike helmet and was wearing his sister’s pink bunny one. Then, I saw this on Pinterest and knew it was in our future! Dukes and Dutchesses made it look so easy and hers turned out so cute. I knew I had to give it a whirl.
What you need:
- bike helmet
- duct tape
- exacto knife
What you do:
Carefully cover the whole helmet with duct tape, smoothing as you go. (It doesn’t really matter how careful you are. There will still be folds and lumps. It still looks great.) 😉 Use your exacto knife to trim the excess tape on the base. Peel the extra tape from the edges.
Make triangles out of another color by folding the tape in half and leaving the sticky part open. Tape these babies to the center of your helmet. Cover the extra bits of tape with a long piece of your original color to make it look clean and so the spikes are all that is showing. Done and done.
Of course, I forgot that the chin strap is still pink. Oh well. He doesn’t seem to mind. HE LOVES IT! 🙂
What an adorable idea and a great reuse of another childs item. Love your ideas on the blog!
Thanks Angela!!!
It turned out great! I love the blue! Thanks for linking back to me!
