canvas paintings for dad

June 13, 2011 by Erin 3 Comments

I saw this clever idea here at Red Ted Art. I just thought it was so cute and such a great keepsake. But, one that also looks good on my walls! haha πŸ™‚

I bought the canvases at Hobby Lobby for a few bucks with my handy dandy 40 percent off coupon and I already had the acrylic paint and brushes.
First I painted the background color and let them dry.
Then I let the kids have at it. I let them pick two colors per canvas (so that they wouldn’t all just end up a muddled mass of brown). They had a blast and I think the canvases turned out really well.
I dressed them in old clothes since I don’t think acrylic comes out.

The bird took it very seriously and stayed very clean!

Β The bean laughed his way through the project and then painted himself. πŸ™‚

Brilliant idea – limiting the colours. The results are gorgeous!
