The girls are here and they are so cute! I’ve been wanting to get chickens for a while now. We have one standard size, a Barred Rock named Myrtle. And we have two bantam Mille Fluers, which will stay small and lay small eggs. They are Petunia and Poppy. We’re going to get one more standard size from a friend, but his chicks haven’t hatched yet. Next week. The kids love them and so do I. They’re so funny and quirky already and they’re only a few weeks old. I think chickens are a perfect pet! Right now they live in our garage until they have more feathers. Lucie goes out to the garage about a million times a day to watch them. The bean gets all excited when we go out there, too. He kicks and laughs and claps. They’re really fun pets. And they will be even better when they start making us breakfast! Yum, fresh eggs. I guess I’m an urban suburban farmer. 🙂
This is what we do every morning now.

Hmmm… how much room do chickens need? Tommy’s been hounding me about wanting to get some. It would be nice to have our own eggs!
