chew on this

February 12, 2010 by Erin Leave a Comment

The bean has been teething and he LOVES these cookies. They are round with a hole and so they are easy to hold. They are kind of messy, but the 15 minutes of keeping him busy makes the little mess well worth it. My nephew loves them too. They are so easy to make. Only 4 ingredients! My sister asked for the recipe…..here it is.

Teething Biscuits

1 1/2 cups of unbleached flour
1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
1/2 cup of pure maple syrup
3 TB applesauce

Heat oven to 300. Mix all ingredients until dough begins to hold together. Dust counter with flour, knead lightly for about 3 minutes. Use more flour if dough is too sticky to handle. (i used a lot of extra flour) Roll out with a rolling pin until 1/3 inch thick) Cut out biscuits with an inverted cup. Cut out holes with a doughnut cutter or water bottle (i used a baby bottle). Transfer to a greased cookie sheet. Bake until barely browned, about 35 minutes. Let cool and now they are ready to eat, bite or suck on (under supervision). They will harden more if you leave out overnight. Yum.
